EEL 5737: Principles of Computer System Design


Credits: 3                    Grading Scheme: Letter

Prerequisite: Digital Design and Computer Programming. The project’s programming component primarily uses a scripting language (Python) and requires basic understanding of data structures, algorithms, and Unix. Students may not take this course if they have already taken EEL 4736.      

This class will be providing a broad introduction to the main principles and abstractions for engineering hardware and software systems, and in-depth studies of their use on computer systems across a variety of designs, be it in operating system, a client/server application, a database server, or a fault-tolerant disk cluster.
