Molecular Genetics and Microbiology Department

The Graduate Faculty of the Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology participates in the Biomedical Sciences (BMS) graduate program in the College of Medicine, leading to the Doctor of Philosophy degree, with specialization in one of the 7 advanced concentration areas of the BMS (see Medical Sciences). Departmental areas of research associated with the BMS focus on topical problems in gene expression, RNA processing, DNA replication, genomics, gene therapy, molecular basis of disease, and the mechanisms of viral pathogenesis. Faculty in the Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology also participate in the Medical Sciences M.S. concentration in Molecular Genetics and Microbiology (see Medical Sciences).
